Vidya Balan, the cover girl of the magazine’s first issue, who was carrying an shoulder injury, was fashionably late for the do, but in her defence, one can blaim the monsoon in Mumbai which made her miss her 6 p. m. flight.
The actress, who has won acclaim for her roles in Bollywood films like Paa and Ishqiya to name a few, shared that she had injured her shoulder long ago at the gym but the problem had resurfaced. “ I am undergoing physiotherapy.
The problem keeps cropping up every now and then, but now that I have some time at hand, I have decided to take care of it once and for all,” said Balan.
She has just wrapped up the shooting of No One Killed Jessica , a film on the murder of Jessica Lal where Balan plays the murdered model’s sister, Sabrina Lal.
The film features another top actress, Rani Mukherji, in the role of a news reporter.
White and gold seemed the unofficial dress code for the evening as Jaya Jaitley, former Samata Party president and one of the magazine’s panellists, also sported the combo.
Besides signing autographs and giving sound bytes, the 32- year- old Balan also held forth on saving the planet. “ Gifting saplings instead of bouquets, switching off lights and fans when you leave the room, putting out a bowl of water for birds are some of the ways in which you can make a difference,” said Balan.
The star also does her bit to save the planet. She informed, “ In Mumbai, the number of sparrows has gone down. Therefore, an NGO has gifted people, including Sachin Tendulkar and me, nests to keep at our homes where the birds can come and stay,” she said.
